MEET OUR SPEAKERS:
Bridget R Wright , Community Health Educator for the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response at Baltimore City Health Department.
Experience in Public Speaking, Preparedness and Community Outreach, Bridget’s role takes her to Baltimore City Communities where she gives workshops on preparing for emergencies. Her focus is to help create a city more prepared for the next emergency.
Bridget has been involved with many of the City’s response efforts: Sever weather events, disease outbreaks, Civil unrest, and the Cyber-attack in Baltimore City, to name a few.
Crystal Dawn Bright, Deputy Preparedness Section Chief, Baltimore City Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management.
Crystal graduated from Towson University with her Bachelors in Communications.
She has been an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for twenty four years leading into working in private ambulance service and then the Health Department before landing at the Office of Emergency Management.
Crystal’s expertise includes public speaking in which she provides informational presentations on Emergency Preparedness to the aging population, private and local sectors, youth, and supervising Summer Youth Workers. She serves as the Lead Coordinator of the agency’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. She also sits on the Equity Coordinator’s Committee and is the Disability Coordinator for her agency.
Whenever the City of Baltimore faces a crisis, Crystal is in the Emergency Operations Center ready to help the city return to normal operations.
Michelle Smith, Michelle “Shelly” Smith , Preparedness Section Chief, Baltimore City Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management.
Michelle holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Family Studies in Human Development from Central Michigan University. With 15 years’ non-profit sector experience, she has worked as a direct caregiver, case manager and residential program director.
She has supported individuals from socially vulnerable communities including those with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, individuals experiencing homelessness, severe mental health illnesses, survivors of intimate partner violence, veterans, individuals with substance use disorders and those living with HIV and AIDs.
In her most recent role, she works for the Baltimore City Fire Department’s Office of Emergency Management as the Preparedness Section Chief. In her role she provides education and resources on emergency preparedness to the citizens of Baltimore. Michelle serves as a member of the Mayor’s Sustainability and Resiliency Sub-Cabinet Heat Mitigation Workgroup, Mayor’s Coalition on Disabilities, Mayors Equity Committee, the Overdose Prevention Team, and the Baltimore Metropolitan Council’s Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Evacuation and Whole Community subcommittees.
